Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a British and American sitar player. She also sings. She's the smallest woman and also the first woman to be awarded an official British House of Commons shield. Anoushka is the rising star in Indian sitar. She is Ravi Shankar's pupil and is also his daughter of Ravi Shankar. She was born in London in 1982. In her first years she split her time between London New Delhi. Her first performance took place at New Delhi when she was just 13 years old. Later she moved to Encinitas CA she attended high school and graduated with distinction in the year 1999. While she's still young, Anouskha is a star in her performing and recording. Her father has accompanied her on numerous occasions for many years. Her debut solo album Anourag in the year 1998. The album was titled the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album a year after. Her stage career is very extensive for she has performed in most of the major stages in the world. Anoushka Shankar's professional life isn't only limited to performing in music. Bapi The Love of My Life is an illustrated biography she penned in 2002. The book pays tribute to her father, who passed away in 2002. Ravi Shankar. She has also acted in films in 2003 she acted in the film Dance Like a Man where she plays an aspiring Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka Shankar's professional career is continuing to unfold and we're likely to see a lot from her in years to come. Anoushka Shankar was born in England and spent a lot of her early years in London and Delhi later relocating to California where she went to high school. at the age of nine she began her studies in music alongside her father. Her debut performance on the Sitar took place in her 75th birthday celebration in Delhi in the year following. Anoushka was a part of her father throughout his global tour, gained a remarkable number of experiences. When she was in her teens, she played at Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD as well as recorded with George Harrison. The House of Commons Shield was awarded in her honor by the British Parliament for being the most renowned Asian Arts musician. She is the only female and the youngest winner of this prize.
